As always the tube in London was packed, so dragging a suitcase was hard work. To make things worse, the handle to pull my case was very unreliable and somethings the whole thing would just flip over. Not a great start, but hey, still happy as we're going to Paris!
The Eurostar felt just like a train and it was very strange that it took us to Paris. We were only in the underground tunnel for 20 minutes before coming out in to France!
We then took the metro in Paris to our hotel, which was a little difficult to find the correct route as our french isn't great (Passed a pizza hut on the way which we joked we would go to as a last resort) and ended up at our hotel. Finally.
This is the view from our window, it wasn't particularly sunny but still cool:
And this is us on arrival!
So after dropping off out things and freshening up, we decided to head back into Paris to go get some dinner and head up the Eiffel tower! As we started walking back to the station, it suddenly got very dark and the hardest rain drops I have ever felt started falling.... followed by roaring thunder and flashing lightning! The wind picked up and made it impossible to even walk forward. We were drenched and hadn't even made it half way to the station!
So we did what we had to and sadly we got pizza hut, got into our pyjamas and took it back to our hotel...
Would have been a nice cosy little thing to do with your husband, however we just watched simpsons dubbed in french.
The next morning we set off to the metro to go to Paris to start our sightseeing! Things looked a bit wet outside, but the thunderstorm was over and it wasn't cold at all.
Our hotel is on this road on the right hand side:
The river ran down past our hotel. Was rather lovely to see in the morning :)
The day started with getting on the metro
Then having breakfast. Yummy extra large chocolate croissant and tea!
We then got off at the Notre Dame Cathedral Stop, and walked down the river towards it.
The cathedral was very interesting, on the outside and in.
There was a confession booth, right there amongst all the tourists!
We then carried on walking down the river and stopped for a drink
Ok, so I know we're in Paris but we spent a bit of time in this petshop as there were the CUTEST puppies in there!!!
I wanted to take this one home!
Enough of that!
Next we went to the Opera House. This place was magnificent!
This is the view from the top floor:
I would LOVE to go and see a show here!
We then went to a nice little Japanese restaurant for dinner (in France, yes I know) Had fried noodles and squid. DElicious!
Oh yeah, saw a Jewish couple having wedding pics.
Next we went on the one hour boat cruise through Paris. Here's some pics before we went on
And here's the photo I took of the photo they were trying to make us buy for 10 euros!
Then we went to the EIFFEL TOWER!!!!
That was fun :D
It took us and hour a half to queue, got kinda bored waiting so took a pic of our shoes.
Finally we made it to the top. Here's a fuzzy pic of what we could see
They turned the lights on at night. Very pretty!
Then we had the most delicious chocolate crepe ever!
The next day we went to the monmatre town and spent most of the day there. It was very pretty and sweet.
We visited the cathedral
Took a tram around the streets
And saw the Moulin Rouge
Then found a cute little restaurant,
And had dinner outside
Of course with a glass of Chardonnay!
It was the most delicious beef I had ever tasted!
When wondering around we got caught in a tourist trap! There we a few guys from south Africa getting people to hold out their finger and they would make a bracelet out of it, talk to you, put it around your wrist then ask for money. When I asked how much he said whatever you want, then added in the Americans gave us 10! Jo gave 5.. I decided hat was ridiculous and gave them 4. After all its only cotton.
:)
